The building that houses the Paper Museum of New York, located at 17 Pine Street in the Village of Corinth, was completed in 1905 from a design by the R. Newton Breeze firm of Saratoga. The site is also a former home of the International Paper Company’s world headquarters and is on the Registry of Historic Places.
HUDSON RIVER MILL PROJECT
As part of the volunteer mission, the board is collecting the stories and memories of mill work and the IP culture of the last generation of papermakers at the Hudson River Mill site in Corinth.
DESTINATION RESTORATION
The physical mission of the museum board of volunteers is to repair the historic building and restore the second floor.
A building conditions study was completed in 2018. At that time, the estimate for building restoration was $1.5 million.
Destination Restoration, our fundraising campaign, was launched in the summer of 2021 by the current volunteer board to raise funds and awareness about the building conditions and the cost of repairs.
The 2026 projects include restoring water service to the building, updating outdoor lighting, repairing the flagpole, general cleanup around the grounds, and replacing the exterior doors.

IP CORINTH 50TH ANNIVERSARY MURAL 1948
MUSEUM MURAL
The original mural was commissioned in 1998 by International Paper to commemorate the 100th anniversary of IP in Corinth. Esmond Lyons, a local artist and musician, painted the mural in six days from a postcard.
In 2025, Esmond returned to repair the mural and add some final touches that had been on his mind.
This mural is on the bottom floor of the museum.
MISSION STATEMENT
NYS EDUCATIONAL CHARTER 2022-2027
The educational mission of the Paper Museum of NY is to inspire Corinth, area residents, and seasonal visitors to explore the history of pulp and paper manufacturing in Northern New York, the pulp and paper industry’s impact on the development of organized labor, and the history of the industry’s environmental impact on the Hudson River and the Adirondacks.
